Who Else Wants To Lose Ten Pounds In One Week?

There is a strong divide between those people who want to lose weight and those who actually do. Some would describe those who cannot as "weak-willed" and define those who manage to lose ten pounds in one week as "self-determined." The dieters that fail to lose weight also feel like failures in life. A common thought among them is that, "These weight loss programs don't work for me." It seems as if no amount of dieting or exercise ever really works.

Would it surprise you to find out that this line of thought is 100% true? But it isn't for the reasons that you think and it has nothing to do with your personality. Whether you are "strong-willed" or "meek" doesn't determine how much weight you will lose. Your thyroid does. Due to the unavoidable poor diets that we grew up on, our thyroids are fried and hormonally geared to burn sugar instead of fat. There isn't a life coach out there that can motivate you out of that dilemma.

You don't need to fix your personality to lose weight because that is not the source of the weight gain. Don't beat yourself up. Simply acknowledge the fact that you are "trying" and trust me, that is not a defect in character. We all want to improve and there is nothing wrong with "self-help" or advice but save all that talk for your relationships and keep the weight loss questions confined to nutritional science. That is probably the only "fix" your personality needs.
