High Fructose Corn Syrup Is Killing You

Too often when we're trying to lose weight we focus on how many calories, fat and carbohydrates we're consuming. While these are important there are some hidden food additives that not only contribute to our expanding waist lines but also endanger our health.

One of these is High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). HFCS is a food additive or to be more precise a sugar substitute. HFCS has not nutritional value at all. Most food products are sweetened more with this sugar substitute then is sweetened with sugar.

The process for making HFCS is a complicated process that combines cornstarch with various enzymes to break down the cornstarch into glucose and fructose. Then some more chemical tweaking is necessary before HFCS is produced. While this is a complicated process, it is more inexpensive to produce HFCS then grow sugar.

Besides overloading our bodies with empty calories HFCS also limits Leptin secretion in your digestive system. Leptin is a hormone that signals the brain when you're full. By consuming HFCS your brain never gets the message that you're full so you continue to eat.

As if that not bad enough HFCS also increases the production of Ghrelin. Ghrelin is secreted by the stomach and increases your appetite. Ghrelin sends signals to the brain to indicate that its time to be feed. So you ever wonder why you're always hungry. HFCS is the culprit. HFCS interferes with your body's natural appetite control system. HFCS puts your appetite into hyper overdrive.

HFCS is nothing more then chemical sludge. Our bodies were not designed to digest and process HFCS. As more studies are done there is mounting evidence that HFCS harms our bodies on many levels.

HFCS is simply not safe for human consumption. A test was done where rats were given high doses of fructose. The amount of damage to the rat's health was freighting. Many of the rats did not reach adulthood. They developed anemia, liver problems, high cholesterol and enlarged hearts.

The majority of nutritionists blame high fructose corn syrup consumption as a major culprit in the nation's obesity crisis. In the 1980's there was explosive growth in the use of HFCS in a wide range of products including bread, sodas, pasta sauces, beer and the list endless. During that same period there was a dramatic increase in people who were becoming over weight and obese. There was also a huge rise in the amount of people becoming diabetics.

Try this experiment, for just one week avoid consuming anything that contains HFCS. You will notice after just 1 week your appetite will dramatically decrease. Continue this experiment for 1 month and you will notice that you will have lost weight and you will feel healthier but most important you will be healthier. Continue this experiment for life and live a longer and healthier life!

If you're serious about losing weight and staying healthy then you need to eliminate High Fructose Corn Syrup from your diet.
